The Village Heating Oil Buying Scheme
There is no piped gas supply to the village and as a consequence many houses have oil-fired central heating. Several residents have achieved reductions in the cost of oil deliveries of kerosene 28 by combining their orders with others. Should you, as a resident of the parish, wish to join the consortium, please complete the registration form. Thereafter, if you wish the consortium to place an order of 500 litres or more on your behalf, please complete and submit the order form before the ordering deadline.
Your oil should then be delivered during the following week and you will need to pay the oil company directly. The price will be the best available at the time and should be lower than you, as an individual, could negotiate. The graph is only indicative of national prices.
The next closing date for orders will be Monday 6th September.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
If you have by chance not registered (you only need to register once) then I do ask that you let me know in writing or via the web to eliminate the possibility of error. The minimum order is 500 litres and you can specify an exact amount or estimate it and ask for a ‘fill up’.
In the July ‘Messenger’ I wrote “How lucky we all are to be living in such a lovely village”.
I didn’t realise just how prophetic that statement was until the week after we returned from our holiday in the USA. I was experiencing very bad headaches so I went to our local health centre for a check-up. I was immediately sent to hospital for ‘tests’ with the end result that I was rushed over to Frenchay in Bristol and underwent an urgent operation to relieve pressure on the brain. It was at this point that the village support team clicked into action.
Julia was immediately swamped with offers of help ranging from 'to mow the lawn’ to offering to drive her to Bristol day or night. She and I were totally overwhelmed by peoples generosity and also by the huge number of ‘get well’ and ‘best wishes cards that we received. Now I’m safely home and on the mend the offers of help are still coming in. To state the obvious we would like to express our very sincere appreciation for everybody’s kindness towards us.
Now to more mundane matters: Oil.
I will be placing the next order on September 9th and would ask for all orders to be with me by the end of Monday September 6th.
