HARDINGTON AND PENDOMER WI
MINUTES OF THE MONTHLY MEETING HELD ON
9TH APRIL 2008 AT 7.45PM

Present: 36 members and 7 guests.

As it was our birthday meeting, members were greeted with a glass of Italian wine on arrival.

President, Fiona Chadwick welcomed everyone to our 67th birthday meeting Italian Supper especially our guests, 2 each from Misterton, Haselbury Plucknett and Crewkerne WIs and Julia Beckley, our friend from the village who had kindly organised the Italian music for us.

Apologies for Absence: Pauline Grassam, Margaret Wilkins, Vivienne Ford, Brenda Bickerton, Elaine Gilmore, Jayne Jones, Jane Reed, Mary Spilsbury and Audrey Marsh.

Birthday Posies: Fiona Chadwick, Jenny Dodd, Shirley Heal, Karen Dodge, Ann Egerton and Carol Vallis. A card was presented to Joan Whiteman to mark the occasion of her Golden Wedding Anniversary.

Minutes of last Meeting: The minutes of the last meeting were taken as read and signed by Fiona Chadwick.

Matters arising from the minutes: None.

Group Quiz
To be held on 14th April at Hardington. Cakes needed for refreshments.

Out Meeting
To meet at Ilchester Museum at 6.00pm. For the meal at Capozzoli’s Restaurant, there is a choice of 4 main courses and 3 puddings – please choose in advance.

Sherborne Visit
16th July at 4.30pm. Cost is £18.00 per head which includes dinner at Sherborne School. Husbands/Partners are invited to join us.

Bill Turner’s Farm Open Day
Sue Phillips explained that this was part of a national event. Bill has asked if the WI would be willing to make scones and serve cream teas. Several members agreed to do this.

PA System for Village Hall
The village hall committee are asking all users of the hall if they think it is worth installing such a system.

Any other Business
Rosemary Richards reminded members that the Hardington Horse and Dog Show will be held on July 27th and as she is organising the refreshments any offers of help and/or making of cakes will be most welcome.
Janet Cuff reminded members of her coffee morning to be held at St James on Saturday, April 12th 10.30 am - 12.00 midday.

The meeting continued with members enjoying an Italian meal, cooked and served by the committee, consisting of lasagne, salad and garlic bread, followed by a wonderful choice of puddings made by members. Italian wine was served and a lovely social evening followed with Italian music playing in the background.

The raffle was drawn and the meeting closed at 10.30 pm.

14th May 2008 – Resolution Meeting.
