Any other Business:

Fiona then introduced our speaker, Bonny Sartin of The Yetties folk group. Bonny’s theme for the evening was Dorset, My Dorset, and he spoke of his life growing up in Thorncombe, illustrating it with his amusing poems and songs of country life in Dorset. We were encouraged to join in the chorus of his many amusing songs – we all have memories of childhood coach trips to the seaside, but not all going past the chalk giant, who was a tailor with scissors in his lap! Bonny’s songs and poems of farming life proved thought provoking as well as funny and relevant to us, a farming village. Rosemary Richards thanked Bonny for an entertaining evening and as a Dorset girl herself, she could relate to many of the events told in his poems and songs.

Fiona then invited everyone to enjoy refreshments of Dorset apple cake, cider and apple juice or tea and coffee.

Next Meeting: 8th October – RNAS Yeovilton (a change in the programme).

The meeting closed at 10.00pm.
