REPORT FOR JUNE - OUT MEETING TO MIDELNEY MANOR

After waiting nearly 4 years, on Wednesday 6th June, we left early in the morning to go to Highgrove. We were lucky to have a lovely sunny day to enjoy the delights of the English countryside Midelney Manorat its best as we drove towards the Cotswolds. After passing through security, we drove down the drive towards the house where our guide met us. We all had a wonderful time admiring and enjoying the varied gardens of Highgrove. While walking round, it was obvious that the Prince found solace and inspiration in his garden, giving it a very personal touch. After partaking tea (a special brew mixed by Fortnum & Mason) and, of course, Duchy biscuits, we descended on the shop where we found a few goodies to bring home! We then spent a most enjoyable afternoon in Tetbury before returning home with memories of a delightful day.

A week later, we were again enjoying another house and garden. This time we were at our Out Meeting at Midelney Manor. Though we left the village in rain, by the time we were ready to explore the garden we were fortunate to have a dry evening. On arriving at the Manor we were met by Mrs Trevilian, who showed us round her historic home which had been in her family for 500 years. It was such a delight to find such an elegant old house that still felt like a home. We also enjoyed her beautiful garden, full of sweet smelling roses and gorgeous plants. We ended the evening with a delicious buffet supper - all in all another lovely visit.

Our next meeting is our garden party on Wednesday, 11th July, from 6 - 8 pm. We are very grateful to Anne and Nick Lunt who have kindly offered us the use of their garden at Moor Farm House. We look forward to seeing members with their husbands / partners for Pimms and, of course, refreshments.
