REPORT FOR DECEMBER - CHRISTMAS MEETING
On a cold, starry night, with the Church lit up in the background as we arrived, President, Fiona Chadwick, welcomed 38 members and 4 guests to our Christmas meeting.
Members were greeted by Christmas music and the committee wearing jewellery with flashing lights, antlers with bells and Christmas hats. They had prepared a festive scene of tables decorated with crackers and poinsettia plants. Delicious mulled wine, made by mulled wine expert Sue Phillips, was served with nibbles to keep us going through the business part of the evening!
Fiona, having dealt with the business in record time,
then handed over to Jenny who had devised a Reindeer Drive. This was great fun and certainly brought out the competitive nature of many members! After 3 rounds, delicious hot and cold canapés were served by the committee along with wine and soft drinks. Reindeer driving then continued with the overall winner and runner up being Joan Whiteman and Fiona Bury respectively.
After such a lively, enjoyable evening, we hope our guests will join us as members next year. They will be very welcome, as will anyone else who would like to join us. If you are unsure, do come to a meeting as a guest for a small charge of £2.00, and see what we are about! Sally Norris, Treasurer, reminded us that subscriptions are due by the 13th February 2008 at the latest.
Our next meeting is on 9th January 2008, when we will have Julia Chapman speaking to us about the Marie Curie Ladies' Driving Challenge. We look forward to welcoming as many members and guests as possible.
A Happy New Year to everyone.
Rachel Moulden, 19th December 2007.
