REPORT FOR MARCH - FUN AND GAMES
Twenty-eight members attended the March Meeting, the theme of which was Fun and Games.
Birthday posies were presented to Amy Knight, Audrey Marsh, Liz Brown, Gillian Bysouth, Jayne Jones and Judy Tucker.
During the business part of the meeting Sally, our Treasurer, told the members that out of the profit made from the Village Breakfast £200 had been donated to the Village Hall and £200 to the Church Fabric Fund and letters of thanks had been received.
It appears that any fear of not being able to sell enough tickets for the M&S Ladies’ Night was unfounded as over 700 tickets had been sold.
It was agreed that the WI should have a Carnival float again this year. Elaine Gilmore would be the coordinator and Brenda Bickerton, Margaret Partridge and Joan Whiteman agreed to form a sub-committee to help with the organisation.
The Interest Groups are progressing well. The Walking Group met on Friday 13th March for their first walk to East Chinnock and back. The Theatre Group was going to the Swan Theatre in July and the Book Club was under way. The Lunch Bunch had enjoyed their second lunch at the Broadwindsor Craft Centre.
The members offered their congratulations to Val and Peter Radford who had celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary earlier in the month.
After enjoying refreshments provided by Angela Brooks and Sue Phillips everyone took part in games and quizzes expertly organised by Jayne Jones and Carol Vallis.
The Flower of the Month Competition was won by Carol Vallis.
Our next meeting will be held on Wednesday 8th April at 7.45 pm in the Village Hall when it will be our Birthday Party.
